An eradication exercise conducted by ranks of the Guyana Police Force on Wednesday resulted in the destruction of 12 farms of cultivated cannabis plants.

Police said some 400,000 plants, measuring 4ft-5ft, on approximately 12 acres of land were destroyed between Ekura and Sand Landing in the Canje River.

The operation lasted for over 12 hours; 11 make-shift camps with six water pumps, two generators, two plough machines and a number of cannabis seeds were also destroyed.

Police said an outboard 15 HP engine, along with two grass cutting machines and a shotgun with 95 spent shells, were also found abandoned at the location. These items have since been lodged at Central Police Station.
