(BBC) The UK has just banned Russian private jets from its airspace, after announcing on Thursday that Russia’s national carrier Aeroflot would also be banned. Russia responded on Friday by banning British airlines.
Other countries, too, have banned Russian air traffic. Bulgaria says no Russian planes can enter its airspace from Saturday, and Poland and the Czech Republic have made similar moves.
Russian airline S7 – one of the country’s largest – has cancelled all flights to Europe until 13 March because of the airspace closures.
US airline Delta has suspended its partnership with Aeroflot.
