A 90-year-old unvaccinated woman from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) is Guyana’s latest COVID-19 death. The Ministry of Health reported that the woman died on Wednesday. This latest death takes the total death toll since March 2020 to 1, 227 and is the first reported death in weeks.
Meanwhile, nine new cases were recorded from 1, 280 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 63, 349. The new cases were recorded in: Region Three (one case), Region Four (four cases), Region Five (one case) and Region Nine (three cases).
There is one patient in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, seven are in institutional isolation and 90 are in home isolation.
To date, 62, 024 people have recovered from the dreaded virus.
