Guyanese Attoya Harvey capped a remarkable weekend at the 49th Carifta Games in Kingston, Jamaica, copping a bronze medal in the Girls Under-17 800m race on Monday.
Harvey was clocked at 2:14.08 seconds, just ahead of compatriot Narissa McPherson, who took fourth in a time of 2:16.13 seconds.
Michelle Smith of the US Virgin Islands won the race in a time of 2:10.78 seconds, followed by Jamaican Andrene Peart (2:13.07s).
Harvey’s medal was her third of the Games, having won gold in the Under-17 1500m and silver in the Under-20 3000m.
Also medaling for Guyana at the three-day event were Anisha Gibbons, who won gold in the Under-20 Javelin; McPherson took silver in the Under-17 400m, Javon Roberts also claimed a silver in the Under-17 1500m and Adriel Austin in the Under-20 800m.
