North West man remanded for murder of foster son

Nigel Abraham, 30, of North West District, was charged with the murder of his 19-year-old foster son.

He appeared virtually before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

Abraham was not required to plea to the charge which alleged that he stabbed Daniel Wilson to death on April 17.  He was remanded to prison until May 18, 2022.

Abraham was arrested days after the incident which occurred at Black Water, North West District.

Wilson was stabbed to death while his cousin, 19-year-old Ron Moonsammy, was also injured when he intervened in the fracas between the father and son.

The three men were imbibing and an argument ensued. It is alleged that the foster father took a knife and viscously stabbed the young man.
