Two female students of the Critchlow Labour College at Woolford Avenue in Georgetown were robbed at knife-point on Monday night by eight men on bicycles.
Police Headquarters reported that the two women, a 20-year-old who lives in Werk-en- Rust and a 28-year-old who lives at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD), were awaiting transportation to go home at around 21:00 hrs on Monday on Woolford Avenue when the men attacked them.
One of the suspects was armed with a knife and he reportedly pointed it at the victims in a “menacing manner” while the other gang members relieved the two women of their valuables.
The 20-year-old victim was robbed of a Samsung Galaxy cell phone valued at $30,000, and $23,000 in cash; the 28-year-old was relieved of a Samsung A30 cellphone valued at $57,000 and $8,000 in cash.
After robbing the two women, the men escaped west along Woolford Avenue and onto Albert Street.
Investigations are ongoing.
