Man, 23, charged with construction worker’s murder

Keon Carr, 23, of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD) was charged and remanded to prison for the murder of 19-year-old construction worker Chrisgaichan Narine.

Carr, who is also a construction worker, made his appearance at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court on Monday before Magistrate Faith McGusty.

He was not required to plea to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison until August 4, 2022.

Carr was arrested hours after reportedly stabbing Narine to death on June 13, 2022.

Narine, called “Boyo”, of Recht-Door-Zee, WBD was stabbed with a scissors to his lower abdomen and left shoulder.

Police Headquarters had reported that the incident occurred in the vicinity of Third Avenue, La Parfaite Harmonie, WBD.

According to the police report, the teen and his 23-year-old uncle Gansham Singh were riding home when they noticed Carr approaching them from the opposite direction on an electric bike.

After Carr attacked Narine, the uncle ran away; he returned after Carr had escaped.

The uncle attempted to help the teen, but he collapsed on the road.

The uncle then rode to the Parfaite Harmonie Police Station and reported the matter.

Narine was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.
