Police investigator, known drug trafficker arrested with over 3lbs of cocaine

Ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) arrested five persons on Monday including a known drug trafficker, 43-year-old Andre Clarke, and Police Sergeant, 33-year-old Dion Bascom.

According to a statement from CANU, its ranks conducted an operation at a Norton Street, Georgetown residence where Clarke lives

A search of the premises led to the discovery of four parcels containing suspected cocaine.

Clarke and the police sergeant who was present at the premises at the time  were arrested along with three others.

They were identified as Akeem Lashley, 26; Rodwell George, 54, and Serena Mentus, 19.

They were all taken to CANU’s Headquarters with the suspected narcotics. The narcotics tested positive for cocaine and weighed approximately 1.5 kilograms, with an estimated street value of approximately GUY 1.5M.

Clarke is no stranger to CANU as he was arrested and charged in 2011 after 590 grams of cocaine was found on his premises. In 2018 Clarke was again fingered in a drug seizure after an associate of his was arrested on his premises with a quantity of cocaine.
