Gafoors female employee killed after storage unit collapsed on her

A female employee of Gafoors was killed on Friday afternoon after a section of the Window Factory storage unit came crashing down on her.

The dead woman has been identified as Cindy Jattan. The News Room understands that two other employees were also injured. The unit that collapsed was used to store materials used to construct windows.

The incident occurred at the company’s Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara location.

An employee, who prefers to remain anonymous, told the News Room that Jattan worked in window factory was sitting when the unit collapsed on her.

“After it fell it was just a lot of dust, nobody could see anything and by time the workers rushed to find she, it was too late,” the employee told the News Room.

Regional Commander Denise Griffith said investigators are on the scene and details of the incident will be released later.
