Attorney General and Minister and Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall, S.C., has written to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) requesting documents used by the A Partnership For National Unity + Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) Coalition to allege voter fraud during the 2020 General and Regional Elections.

In a letter seen by the News Room dated August 30, 2022 and addressed to Chairman of GECOM, Justice (Ret’d) Claudette Singh, Nandlall noted that the allegations continue to be peddled and it is necessary to officially reconfirm its inaccuracy.

The allegations include deceased persons purportedly voting, the elections being tainted by multiple voting and persons who were overseas voting on elections day (March 02, 2022).

Nandlall noted that until now, the impression conveyed is that these documents and/or data were generated by and obtained from its respective lawful official repository such as the Immigration Department, Guyana Police Force and the General Registrar’s Office.

“You will appreciate that these are grave allegations, and as baseless and unfounded as they were proven to be, it is important that the relevant state agency enquires into the source of this information, upon whose directions they were sourced, and perhaps, most importantly, to reconfirm their inaccuracy, for the public record,” Nandlall wrote.
