Man, 24, charged with murder of Wairuni logger

A 24-year-old man was charged with the murder of Selmon King, a logger of Wairuni, Berbice River.

Corwin Walker, a farmer of Kimbia, Upper Berbice River appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

He was not required to plea to the charge and was remanded to prison until October 24, 2022.

Walker was arrested days after he reportedly chopped King to death and injured his cousin, 18-year-old Shane Osborne. Shane’s hand was severed from the wrist during the brutal attack.

Based on the information, Walker and another man had an argument over a cutlass at a drinking spot in Kimbia when Shane intervened and was chopped.

It was Shane’s screams that King heard and rushed to his assistance but instead, Walker attacked him and killed him in the process.
