Two vendors – Melissa Dundas, 33 and Anthony Mosley, 45 – are in police custody after they were found with an illegal .32 Taurus pistol and 15 live matching rounds.
Police Headquarters reported that the two were in a taxi that was intercepted by police ranks on Mandela Avenue in Georgetown on Monday.
Dundas was found with the firearm and ammunition in her shoulder bag while the taxi driver was also searched but police said “nothing of evidential value was found.”
Police said a female rank asked Dundas if she was a licenced firearm holder and she said no. She claimed that she took the gun from Anthony and put it in her bag.
The duo was told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested, and then escorted to the East La Penitence Police station.
Investigations are ongoing.
