A city businessman was murdered late Monday night during a robbery of his beverages depot located at Durban and Chapel streets, Georgetown.
Regional Commander Simon McBean said on Tuesday that the dead man has been identified as Shimron Adams.
Adams was reportedly closing his store when he was ambushed by two bandits and shot.
He was later taken for medical care but was pronounced dead by doctors.
It is not yet clear what the bandits managed to steal. Investigations are continuing.
This murder has spoilt the happiness that is associated with the festive season. How sad that this had to happen to Mr. Adams. One does not give life therefore one should not take it. My sympathy goes out to the family and relatives if the deceased. May his soul rest in peace.
