Deonarine Sawh called “Boyzie” who is wanted by the Police for the gruesome murder of his ex-partner Nazaleen Mohammed was found Wednesday morning at an abandoned house at Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.
Police Headquarters related that after it issued a wanted bulletin on Tuesday it received feedback from members of the public.
Boyzie was arrested during a pre-dawn operation by the Police.
The battered body of Mohamed, 47, was found floating in a canal at Hope Lowlands Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Monday afternoon.
Sawh, 65, of Hope Estate, ECD and Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice was reportedly last heard on a distressing phone call with Mohammed.
Mohammed, a housewife of Belfield Squatting Area, was found floating in the canal, facing upward, with wounds to her head, ear, neck and abdomen, and her intestines protruding.
It is believed that Mohammed was killed sometime between 07:00hrs and 15:00hrs on Monday.
Police reported that Mohammed lived with her daughter and reputed husband, who is presently at sea on a fishing boat.
She was last seen alive leaving her house at around 07:00hrs by her neighbour.
According to the police, at about 08:05 hrs, Mohammed’s 32-year-old son received a call from her (his mother’s) cellphone and he heard a male voice whom he identified as the suspect.
The son told the Police that he also heard his mother’s voice shouting for her phone. Shortly after, the call ended.
At around 15:00 hrs, Mohammed’s neighbour left in search of her and while walking along Hope Lowlands Railway Embankment, the neighbour (a male) saw the body in the canal.
