Pensioner found dead in abandoned building on Croal Street

The body of a 65-year-old man was found by a civilian at an abandoned building at the corners of Croal Street and Brummell Place, Georgetown Thursday morning.

Regional Commander, Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean confirmed the discovery and said the man was identified as Roger Cooblall.

He was reportedly homeless, the Police Commander said.

McBean explained that the man’s family told the police that he abused drugs and alcohol and has been living on the streets for several years.

McBean said the body was discovered by a civilian at about 7:00hrs. A police patrol was in the area at the time and was alerted.

The body did not have visible marks of violence.
