Police have arrested a 31-year-old gold miner and his wife following the discovery of several parcels of marijuana at their Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara (ECD) house on Saturday.
They have been identified as Kevin Archer and Carletta Sutton.
Police Headquarters said the marijuana, which amounted to 943 grams (about 2lbs) and 12 Bamboo were found in a plastic bag in the couple’s kitchen.
The discovery was made between 06:00hrs and 07:00hrs as ranks were carrying out a raid exercise for guns, drugs, ammunition and for wanted persons in the communities of Plaisance, Better Hope and Vryheid’s Lust, ECD.
The couple were told of the offence committed, cautioned and both denied ownership.
They were both arrested and escorted to the Sparendaam Police Station.
Archer and Sutton are expected to be charged soon.
