Jamal Seymour, a 26-year-old Carpenter Campbell and Sussex Street, Albouystown, Georgetown and Ryan Goodluck, a 29-year-old Vendor of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, were charged on Monday with the offence of Robbery Under Arms.

The two men were arrested following the armed robbery of a Chinese-owned supermarket at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara last week.

On Monday, both accused appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate R. Liverpool.

They both pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of $150,000 each.

The Prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds of the seriousness and prevalence of the offence and noted that the two accused do not live on the East Coast nor have any social activities or ties there.

The prosecutor noted too that there was video evidence and confession evidence and that the accused were previously charged with a matter that is pending at Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.

The Magistrate told the Prosecutor that those were not enough grounds and granted bail to the two accused.

The case was adjourned until November 06 for reports.
