Guyana came from behind to defeat Puerto Rico 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon in their ‘home’ game in St. Kitts to remain unbeaten in Group D of League B of the CONCACAF Nations League.
It was Guyana’s fourth victory in as many games this season, strengthening their position at the top of the table.
Puerto Rico surged ahead through Gerald Diaz in the 41st minute, a lead they held on to at halftime.
Upon resumption, Guyana went on a scoring spree, slotting home three unanswered goals, with Nathan Moriah-Welsh (48th), Deon Moore (76th) and Omari Glasgow (85th) getting on the scoresheet.
It was Glasgow’s sixth goal of the tournament and his 13th overall for Guyana in just his 19th game.
Guyana also secured a similar come-from-behind 3-1 victory over the same opposition at the weekend. Prior to that, Guyana had defeated the Bahamas 3-2 and Antigua and Barbuda 5-1.
After four games apiece in the group, Guyana’s Golden Jaguars lead the table with 12 points, followed by Puerto Rico (6), Antigua and Barbuda (4) and the Bahamas (1).
The Jaguars are now one win away from advancing to League A of the Nations League.
Jamaal Shabazz’s men next play the Bahamas and Antigua and Barbuda in November.
