A week after being struck by a Police Lance Corporal with his bus at Bengal Farm, Corentyne, 73-year-old Walter Jaundoo of Epsom Village, Corentyne succumbed to his injuries.

According to the Police, the incident occurred on Thursday, October 26 at approximately 13:00hrs and involved minibus BHH 2939 owned and driven by a 51-year-old Lance Corporal of Eversham Village, Corentyne.

    Jaundoo was riding his bicycle.

Police said based on their investigation, the Policeman was heading east along the Bengal Farm access road. The policeman told investigating ranks that he sounded his horn as an indication to pass Jaundoo but he “suddenly swerved” into his path.

He said he felt the impact to the front right portion of his vehicle and as a result, the cyclist fell from his bike. The policeman picked up Jaundoo in an unconscious state and rushed him to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was admitted.

However, on Thursday, November 2, at about 14:30 hrs, Jaundoo succumbed to his injuries. The policeman is in custody assisting with this investigation.

Meanwhile, the wife of the dead man told reporters that her husband relayed to her what took place before he succumbed to his injuries.
