Minibus passenger busted with marijuana at Mango Landing

A 29-year-old minibus passenger was nabbed at a roadblock at Mango Landing in Region Eight after he was found to be in possession of 21.4 grams of marijuana.

Two ranks were performing ‘stop and search’ duties at the Mango Landing Police Outpost at about 17:00 hrs on Wednesday when they stopped a Route #72 minibus (BXX 5372), driven by a 63-year-old man.

Police Headquarters reported that the bus had four passengers and the ranks asked to conduct a search on the passengers and their personal belongings, to which they all agreed.

One of the passengers, 29-year-old Lestroy Archibald of Tuschen Old Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, and his haversack were searched and Police found one transparent plastic bag hidden among some clothing. The plastic bag contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be Cannabis.

Archibald was told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested and escorted to Mahdia Police Station, where the suspected Cannabis was weighed in his presence and it amounted to 21.4 grams. The narcotic was marked, sealed and lodged. The suspect was placed into custody and is slated to be charged.
