Venezuelan man dies in early morning fire

A Venezuelan national lost his life in an early morning fire which destroyed a Plantain Walk, West Bank Demerara (WBD) house on Friday.

The dead man has been identified as Richard LaSado, 47. Reports are that the fire started at around 03:31hrs.

The house was owned by Bernadette Gordon who managed to escape the inferno unharmed.

The News Room understands that upon receiving the call, two fire tenders responded to the scene but by the time they arrived, the building was fully engulfed. No valuables were saved.

Two neigbhouring buildings were also damaged.

Fire Chief Gregory Wickham told the News Room that investigators are still at the scene. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
