Motorcyclist dies in Harbour Bridge incident
Authorities are investigating the death of a motorcyclist which occurred on Wednesday on the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
He has been identified as Premdat Govinda of Belle Street, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara.
A statement from the Management of the Demerara Harbour Bridge revealed that the incident occurred at about 12:55 hrs as the motorcyclist was heading west on the bridge.
Currently, there is no evidence of a collision or involvement of any other person or vehicle, the statement noted. The incident has resulted in the disruption of traffic across the bridge.
“The DHBC also advises commuters that while there is a disruption in the flow of traffic, everything is being done to restore a smooth traffic flow,” the statement noted.
“The Demerara Harbour Bridge Corporation (DHBC) expresses our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” the statement noted.
