Two men were arrested between Saturday and Monday as the probe into the murder of 20-year-old Shonnette Dover widens, almost three years after the gruesome act was committed and the main suspect – her boyfriend – eluded law enforcement officers.

The boyfriend, Shaquawn Alleyne popularly known as ‘ISWE’, was arrested in Suriname last week and confessed to the crime on his return to Guyana. He claimed it was accidental and not “intentional” or “premeditated”.

Investigators, however, have a keen interest in locating the gun used in the commissioning of the crime which Alleyne claimed he sold to a man before leaving his hometown Linden where he had shot and killed the young woman.

The News Room confirmed on Monday that the Police have arrested two others, including the alleged buyer of the murder weapon.

In his confession, Alleyne said he sold the gun to this individual who is a resident of Block 22, Wismar, Linden. The arrest was done on Saturday last.

The suspect was taken to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) where he was told of Alleyne’s claim.

According to sources, the man then told investigators that Alleyne indeed told him of the sale of a gun for $100,000 and inquired whether he knew anyone who would be interested.

The suspect further claimed that he offered to loan Alleyne the cash and told him to keep the gun.

The suspect subsequently met Alleyne where he gave him the money and collected the gun, which he kept at a relative’s house.

About two weeks later, the News Room was told that the suspect learned that Dover’s sister went to the Police and told them that she was shot and killed and the police were on the hunt for Alleyne.

And so, according to the suspect’s account, he called a friend and told him he had a gun to sell for $50,000 after realizing that it may have been the gun that was used to kill Dover

The suspect further noted that he and his friend later met at Wisroc, Linden. But, he said the friend hadn’t the money to pay for the gun.

So, they allegedly agreed for the friend to fence the suspect’s yard and he would discount the money. And so the trade was done.

Investigators were able to confirm the information provided by the suspect after the friend was arrested on Monday in Linden.

As the investigation continues, Alleyne and the two men remain in custody. Investigators are hoping the second suspect will help them locate the murder weapon – a .38 special pistol.

In his confession, Alleyne reportedly implicated Dover’s teenage sister, who was charged with accessory.

He told investigators that it was Dover’s sister who came up with the plan to dig a hole and bury her in the backyard.

Dover’s body was found in a sitting position in a shallow grave in the backyard of Alleyne’s house at Canvas City, Wismar Linden on April 30, 2021.

Dover was missing since April 3, 2021. A post-mortem examination later found that the woman died as a result of a single gunshot injury to the head.
