Nearly 6 lbs of ganja found at abandoned Sophia house

The narcotics and the abandoned house they were found in

Police found 2,720 grammes (or about 5.9 pounds) of marijuana on Saturday at an abandoned house in Sophia, Georgetown.

A release from the Guyana Police Force noted that the narcotics were found after a team from Regional Division 4A carried out several ‘Cordon and Search’ exercises at South Sophia, Campbellville, Newtown, Albouystown, Stabroek Market, Leopold Street and Bourda market.

Searches were carried out on several stalls and persons.

During the exercise, a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis was found in a cream plastic bucket which was in an unoccupied, wooden structure, located at the Squatting Dam in South Sophia.

The narcotics were taken to the Alberttown Police Station, where it was photographed, weighed, and amounted to 2,720 grammes.

No one was arrested.
