UPDATE; Two arrested for killing Gangaram farmer

The police in ‘B’ Division have arrested two men in connection with the murder of a Gangaram Settlement, East Canje, Berbice, farmer on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.

 

According to the police, the two men were arrested late last night for questioning and are still in custody assisting with investigations. They have been identified as 34-year-old Ramadolar Shamdundar called Arnold and 46-year-old Diaram (only name given) called “boy”, both of Gangaram settlement, East Canje, Berbice.

 

So far the police were able to recover four .38 spent shells and one war-head at the scene of the shooting.

 

On Tuesday at about 15:30 hours at Ring Road, Gangaram Estate Dam, East Canje, Berbice, the lifeless body of a cattle farmer who was later identified as 37 year old Ramnarine Itwaru of lot 54, Gangaram Settlement, East Canje, Berbice was found on the access road with four gunshot wounds to his forehead and upper back while his motorcycle was parked at the center of the road.

His body was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

 

The police are presently awaiting the result of a post mortem to continue with their investigations.
