Satish Boodhoo who is attached to the City Constabulary is now hospitalised after he was chopped to the head by an irate vendor along Water Street in the vicinity of the Guyana Stores Bond. The incident took place on Saturday.

The vendor reportedly stepped on Boodhoo’s foot who then tried to negotiate an apology from the vendor who became verbally abusive. The rank, News Room was told proceeded to caution the vendor to cease his offensive behaviour but this failed which then led to the rank resorting to attempt an arrest.

News Room understands that Boodhoo and three others were detailed to work foot patrol duties along Water Street when he strayed from the others and it was during that time the incident took place.

The vendor, News Room was told resisted arrest and argument broke out by which time other persons had gathered even as the other three city constables who kept walking were unaware of what was happening.

It was during the commotion that Boodhoo received a chop to the head and fell unconscious to the pavement. By this time his colleagues realised that he was not with them and turned back to look for him when they encountered the commotion and the very vendor attempting to disarm the unconscious Boodhoo.

The man fled and Boodhoo was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he remains a patient. Meanwhile Police detectives are said to be looking for the vendor and the other persons who might have assisting in attacking the rank.
