Zafiel Yusuf, of Fyrish Village, Corentyne, who is the son of a Regional Councillor and Chairman of an NDC, was placed on $120,000 bail on each count of rape.

He was represented by Attorney-at-Law Chandra Sohan, who made an application for reasonable bail for his client.

According to the allegation brought before the accused, it is believed that on the day in question Yusuf instructed a boy and his sister to perform oral sex on him while they were passengers in his motor vehicle.

At the time the accused had invited the minors into his place with the intention of taking them to visit his mother where they were expected to uplift a hamper. It was while the two minors were in the backseat of the accused’s motor vehicle that he allegedly forced the victims to perform the act.

After hearing the case, Yusuf was ordered to return to court on June 27, 2017.
