Man arrested for alleged rape of Corentyne girl

A 21-year-old unemployed male is in police custody at the #51 Police Station after he was accused of raping a 15-year-old Corentyne school girl on August 10, 2017.

News Room understands that the incident occurred at about 20:30 hours at the suspect’s home, which is located a village away from where the victim lives. According to a police source, police received information about the incident at about 20:50hrs.

The teen told police that she was walking along the roadway heading to spend the night at her aunt’s home when the suspect called her into the yard, grabbed and forced her into the house where he placed her on a chair and had sex with her against her will.

According to information received, the teen did not scream because the suspect had placed his hands over her mouth. After committing the act, the suspect escaped while the teen rushed home and informed her father about what transpired.

The father o made a report at the #51 police station and ranks there escorted the teen to the Skeldon Public Hospital where she was examined by a doctor on duty, who confirmed that she was indeed raped.

After revisiting the crime scene, the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody.
