Five men were granted bail on Friday after they appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, charged with rape.
Police reported that Romario Smartt, Ryan Boodhoo, Dale Edwards and Cadacy Degees, were arrested for the alleged rape of two girls under the age of 16, which occurred between January 1 – 31, 2017 at Bartica, Essequibo River.
These four were granted $150,000 bail each. Meanwhile, Shawn Peters was charged separately with the rape of one of the same victims. He was placed on 200,000 bail.
