President travels to Cuba for medical check-up

President David Granger, this morning, departed Guyana for the Republic of Cuba, according to the Ministry of the Presidency. He is accompanied by First Lady, Mrs Sandra Granger.

The Head of State is travelling to Cuba for a scheduled evaluation by doctors of the Centro de Investigaciones Medico Quirurgicas (CIMEQ).

The President was diagnosed with Non- Hodgkin Lymphoma last year after an intensive series of tests by specialist doctors at the CIMEQ. He subsequently underwent treatment which he completed in May of this year.

President Granger is scheduled to return to Guyana next week, the Ministry stated.
