Three remanded for Casino robbery; claims police brutality

Three men were  remanded to prison until May 20 after they appeared before magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrate Court Charged with armed robbery.

The men were not required to plea to the indictable charge which states that on April 29 they robbed two employees of the Ramada Princes Casino of more than eight million Guyana Dollars.

All three of the men were represented, two using one lawyer and another who was represented signally.

The men are Wayne Griffith, 29 a father of four children who resides at Bagotville West Bank Demerara, Junior Stewart, 30 a father of one who resides at Thomas Street Kitty and Andrea Blackman, 35 a father of 2 who resides at mc Doom East Bank Demerara.

The Court was told by the prosecutor that he does not support bail for the men since other charges are forthcoming and those include the attempted murder and possession of guns and ammunition.
