BREAKING NEWS; Body of male found, with hands and feet bound at #68 village

The body of a male was earlier this evening found in the backlands at Number 68 Village, Corentyne, Berbice. The body bore visible marks of violence while the hands and feet were bound.

According to information reaching News Room, a young man who was venturing to the back-dam at approximately 19:30 hrs on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, stumbled upon what appeared to be a corpse.

After further inspection, his worst fears were confirmed. Persons were alerted and the Police was summoned to the scene.

Information gathered revealed that the body of the dead man has been identified by his father as Levan Chanderpaul. Chanderpaul was reported missing by his father on Monday, August 22, 2016.

It was revealed to this publication through reliable sources that Chanderpaul was recently placed before the court for simple larceny and another offence. He was expected to appear in court on Tuesday, August 23, 2016,to compensate the parties concerned, however, his mother appeared on his behalf and made the payment.
