Silver for Guyana in CAREBACO Team event

Guyana had to settle for silver as the Team event of the Caribbean Badminton Championship (CAREBACO) concluded on Wednesday in Aruba.

 

The Guyanese lost 2-3 in the final against the Dominican Republic. On Tuesday, they had disposed of Suriname by a similar margin in the semi-finals. Below are the summarised scores from the games.

 

Final:

BOYS SINGLES: Narayan Ramdhani lost to Cesar Brito: 11-21, 15-21

GIRLS SINGLES: Ambika Ramraj lost to Nairobi Jimenez: 4-21, 6-21

BOYS DOUBLES: Narayan Ramdhani and Jonathan Mangra defeated Wilmer Brea and Bryan Castro: 21-16, 21-9

GIRLS DOUBLES: Priyanna Ramdhani and Ambika Ramraj defeated Carmen Garcia and Francesca Matias: 21-9, 21-7

MIXED DOUBLES: Jonathan Mangra and Priyanna Ramdhani lost to Argenis Marinez and Nairobi Jimenez.

 

Semi-final:

BOYS SINGLES: Jonathan Mangra defeated Denny Chen: 21-15, 21-16

GIRLS SINGLES: Priyanna Ramdhani lost to Shemara Lindveld: 11-21, 19-21

BOYS DOUBLES: Narayan Ramdhani and Jonathan Mangra defeated Jascha Atmodikromo and Denny Chen: 21-9, 21-17

MIXED DOUBLES: Narayan Ramdhani and Priyanna Ramdhani defeated Jascha Atmodikromo and Imani Mangroe: 21-7, 21-4

 

The Guyana players are now competing in the CAREBACO Regional Championship, open to only Caribbean member countries. This is the third part of the CAREBACO event, and it began on Wednesday evening.

 

In the individual segment, which concluded last week, Guyana copped six medals- four silver and two bronze.
