Chief -of- Staff of the Guyana Defense Force Patrick West has been handed a preliminary report into the allegations of rape leveled against three members of the army.
The news Room was able to confirm that the Board of Inquiry which was set up to investigate the rape allegations presented the report to West some three days ago.
It has been confirmed that the three ranks who a Timehri young lady accused of raping her, remain confined to an army base. They were removed from their previous base at Camp Stephens and taken to the GDF Headquarters at Camp Ayanganna.
While the GDF is reviewing the report, the Guyana Police Force continues its own investigations into the matter and when that file is completed, same would be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution.
There is not clear whether the alleged rape took place on GDF premises or somewhere off-base.
The young lady was said to be traumatized following the incident and the family was not willing to speak on the issue two weeks ago when the GDF announced that it was investigating the report.
While there are conflicting reports on the actual age of the young lady making the rape allegations, the News Room has been unable to confirm if she is below or above the age of consent.
