Representatives of Banks DIH, Citizens Bank and the Lusignan Golf Club at the launch
Banks DIH Limited and Citizens Bank have collaborated to stage a golf tournament that is scheduled for Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Course. Guyana’s best golfers will have an opportunity to showcase their skills this weekend when they face off against each other.
At the press conference held on Tuesday, Communications Manager of Banks DIH Troy Peters noted that the beverage company expects a great tournament.
“We know this is a very important and it will set the tone for the Guyana Open, we expect a lot of competitors and participants from overseas, we hope that persons come out and fun and that we can have good golf over the weekend,” Peters stated.
Vice-President of Lusignan golf club Brian Hackett noted that the event will be a Stableford one and shared that keen competition is expected with a numbers of past winners expected to compete.
However, Hackett also pinpointed that he expects the tournament to be a catalyst for golf in terms of awareness with the sport especially with the season nearing its conclusion.
“This tournament is expected to kick start the rest of the golf season, but in terms of awareness we are going through schools with a putting tournament to spike interest and we are expected to have a few more tournaments but hopefully this tournament could reach persons that might be interested in golf,” Hackett mentioned.
50-60 golfers are expected for the tournament that will have the top three finishers receiving prizes.
The event will tee off at 10:00h on Saturday.
