7 arrested for illegal possession of guns, ammo

The police have arrested seven men in connection with the discovery of two guns and matching ammunition during separate operations on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

According to a police report, six men between the ages of 18 and 39, were arrested after a Police Anti-Crime Unit patrol found a .32 revolver with a magazine at about 23:30hrs on Saturday night (November 04) in Norton Street, Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara.

The police noted that the group was at the junction of Norton Street when they were intercepted. Meanwhile, police acting on information Sunday morning at about 04:30hrs went to a house at Bourda, Georgetown, where they conducted a search and found a .32 Pistol with three matching rounds of ammunition, under a pillow in a bedroom.

The 28-year-old suspect is in police custody assisting in this investigation.
