Cyclist killed by drunk driver

A 37-year-old resident of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara is in police custody after he allegedly crashed into a pedal cyclist early this morning on the Pouderoyen Public Road, West Coast Demerara.

Sixty-year-old Keith Redmond of Bagotville, West Bank Demerara, was pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

According to a police report, the alcohol level of the driver was found to be exceedingly above the legal limit.

Initial investigation revealed that about 05:15hrs this morning,  motorcar PMM 1895 was proceeding south on the Pouderoyen, Public Road allegedly at a fast rate, when the driver lost control and collided with Redmond, who was proceeding in the same direction.

 

Investigations are ongoing.
