The Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) has launched a campaign to ensure all categories of vessels on the country’s waters are licensed.
In addition, MARAD also wants to ensure that the crew aboard all vessels are licensed to operate according to the relevant regulations.
The Maritime Administration is working with the Guyana Defence Force Coast Guard and the Guyana Fisheries on the campaign.
Operators in the major riverain areas of Guyana are the first being inspected.
