The driver who was shot Tuesday evening after one of two men on a motorcycle fired at him at McDoom, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
He has been identified as 35-year-old Kelvin Walters of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.
A Police Officer on the scene told the News Room that the men on motorcycle CJ 2686 tried to get the driver to pull into the corner, however, Walters refused when they opened fire at him.
It is reported that at the time of the incident, Walters’ wife and child were in the car.
News Room reported that Walters managed to slam the car into the men on the motorbike. The men sped away on foot from the scene, leaving behind the motorbike and the weapon.
Eyewitnesses claimed that one of the gunmen suffered a broken leg.
