Stepheon Philips, 42, of Phase II Belle West, Canal #2 Polder, West Bank Demerara was Tuesday charged with four counts of rape of a child under 16 years, Police headquarters reported.
He appeared before Magistrate Zamina Ally-Seepaul at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court and was remanded to prison until February 28, 2019, when he will appear at the Wales Magistrate’s Court.
Residents had told the News Room that the man moved to the area about three months ago and the boys were seen at his place on multiple occasions.
He was arrested after one of the boys went missing. A medical examination found that the boys were raped.
Angry residents from the village had ripped the shack where Philips lived to pieces and burnt it.
