The People’s Progressive Party, having once again won Region 9 (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo), has chosen to retain Bryan Allicock as the Chairman of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC).
The 15-member council was sworn in on Monday morning and immediately after voted for Allicock to remain as the Chairman.
The Councilors also voted for Bertie Xavier to serve as the Vice-Chairman.
Both men are candidates of the People’s Progressive Party. The PPP won the region in the 2020 general and regional elections with 7,066 votes.
This allows the PPP to take up nine seats and APNU+AFC will take the other six seats, having won a total of 4,824 votes.
