Major traffic jam on EBD as police implement new measures

New traffic arrangements implemented by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) has led to a major backup of traffic on the East Bank and West Bank of Demerara.

Commuters have been stuck in the traffic for more than three hours and have taken their complaints to Facebook. When contacted, Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar explained that efforts are being made to ease the traffic congestion.

He noted the police have changed the usual traffic arrangements which has led to a backup since 15:00h.

The traffic situation on the East Bank and West Bank have worsened over the past few months as the police at the Demerara Harbour Bridge continue to change the traffic arrangements.
