A female pump attendant and her female co-worker are in police custody following a robbery at the Alpha Petroleum Gas Station on Wednesday at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara.
According to a release from the Guyana Police Force, the pump attendant, who was in the company of her colleague, claimed that there was a sudden power outage, during which, a male rode up on a bicycle and robbed them of $132,796 in cash, property of the gas station.
She claimed that power was restored to the station five minutes later and they reported the incident to a neighbour five minutes later.
The alleged robbery victims did not report the matter to the police and subsequently informed the owner of the gas station.
After subsequent investigations by the police, the two women are expected to be charged with larceny.
Larceny by clerk or servant refers to theft of any property belonging to, or in the possession, or power of, an individual’s employer. Investigations are still ongoing.
