Speeding driver crashes into truck, hospitalised with fractured rib

A 33-year-old resident of Hope West, Enmore East Coast Demerara (ECD), Ijaz Gafors is nursing a fractured rib at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into a truck on the Annandale Public Road, ECD.

A police report noted that the accident occurred at around 12:50hrs on Thursday

According to the report, the driver of the truck GWW 6076, 35-year-old Rafman Juman claimed that he was proceeding west while the car HC 7123, driven by Gafors was heading east.

It is alleged by the truck driver that Gafors was speeding and lost control of the car when he collided with the right side front of the truck.

The police report noted that Gafors was rescued by the driver of the truck along with public-spirited citizens; he was removed in a conscious state and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

No trace of alcohol was found on the truck driver’s breath.
