The Guyana Police Force Marine Unit is currently scouring the Demerara River after receiving reports that a man was seen plunging off the western side of the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
A police report indicates that the incident occurred sometime between 07:20hrs and 07:35hrs on Sunday.
It is alleged that a driver stopped on the eastern side of the Harbour Bridge and informed a rank on duty that he saw a male jumped into the Demerara River from the bridge.
An alarm was then raised and ranks of the Providence Police Station went to the Harbour Bridge and discovered a black CG motorcycle #CH 4923 parked on the northern side of the bridge facing west with the engine still on.
Checks were made on the pontoons under the bridge but no one was seen.
Investigations are ongoing.
