Unvaccinated Giftland staff required to submit negative PCR COVID test weekly

Staff of the Giftland OfficeMax, who have not taken their COVID-19 vaccines, will be required to present a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) COVID-19 test  at the beginning of each work week.

This requirement was communicated by the Giftland Group in a recent press release. It was emphasised that widespread vaccination is necessary to save lives due to the emergence of highly contagious variants and the number of infections, hospitalisations and deaths being recorded among the unvaccinated population.

The local business referenced recent statements made by the Private Sector Commission (PSC), endorsing strict COVID-19 measures for unvaccinated people.

The measures proposed will essentially see unvaccinated persons having to produce weekly negative COVID-19 tests to be allowed into their workplaces and other entities.

A PCR test costs between $15,000 to $25,000, while the Antigen COVID-19 test costs about $8,000. Tests from the Ministry of Health are free but are only accessible if you show signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Giftland also stated, “Existing COVID-19 vaccine mandates have proven effective.

“As the health care community leads the way in procuring vaccines for our country, we hope all other employers across the country will implement effective policies to encourage vaccination.”
