The Guyana Police Force says a man has been arrested in connection with an alleged attempt to bribe a witness who testified before the court in an ongoing murder trial.
A vague statement issued by the Police Force on Wednesday stated that ranks are making efforts to contact a prominent Senior Counsel from Berbice who is also involved in the attempt to obstruct the course of justice.
“Investigations so far have revealed that a woman, who is a witness in a matter of murder that is before the court, has reported to the police that the man who has been arrested and the Senior Counsel had approached her and told her that the relatives of the murder accused is offering a large sum of money for her to change her statement that she had given in the matter,” the police statement noted.
The investigations are continuing.
