Two persons were injured in a motorcycle crash along the Annai Main Access Road on Sunday, Police Headquarters reported.

Jernel John, the 16-year-old driver of the 150 Honda motorcycle, suffered a broken left wrist, while the pillion rider, 23-year-old David Kenford, is in a critical condition with multiple head injuries.

John is a student of the Annai Secondary School.

Police said both John and Kenford are from Aranaputa Valley in the North Rupununi.

The accident occurred at about 15:30hrs within the vicinity of the Guyaan Elections Commission (GECOM) Office.

According to the police report, the two young men were proceeding north along the eastern side of the road when the teen lost control while negotiating a right turn and collided into a tree stump.

“As a result of the collision they both fell onto the gravel surface where they received injuries about their bodies,” police reported.

They were both picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Annai Health Centre.

There, John regained consciousness and they were then transferred to the Lethem Regional Hospital.
