Happy Acres man found dead in five-storey building on Sandy Babb St.

A 47-year-old man was discovered dead in an unfinished five-storey building at Sandy Babb Street in Kitty, Georgetown on Monday.

The dead man has been identified as Arvinder Singh of Happy Acres, East Coast Demerara.

Police Headquarters reported that Singh was found by security guards at about 18:30hrs.

According to the police report, he was unemployed and had been living in the building for about two weeks, sleeping on a wooden bed.

One of the security guards, a 31-year-old of Sandy Babb Street, told police that he last saw Singh alive at about 04:00hrs on Monday when he collected his cell phone, filled his water bottle and went back to sleep.

“The other guard, a 51-year-old female of Industry, ECD reported for work at the location about 06:00hrs on the said date and related that throughout the day she saw the man lying on his bed,” the police report noted.

At about 18:30 hrs, when the female security guard was relieved of her duties, she informed the other guard that Singh was in his bed all day.

A report was subsequently made at the Kitty Police Station and Emergency Medical Technicians from the Central Fire Service were informed and visited the scene, where the man was pronounced dead.

The body was further examined and no marks of violence were seen.

The man’s body is presently at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
