    The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) is currently seeking information about the whereabouts of two West Coast Berbice men who are currently wanted for questioning in relation to a narcotics bust on the East Coast of Demerara.

    Wanted are Akeen Daniels, also known as “Chicken”, whose last known address is 489 Trafalgar, West Coast Berbice and Shawn Sears, also known as “Shawn Storm”, whose last known address is 416 Trafalgar, West Coast Berbice.

    On Sunday last, while conducting an operation in Dutchfour Village, East Coast Demerara, CANU officers intercepted a motor vehicle near the Hope Canal on which a search was conducted a quantity of suspected cannabis was found.

    According to a CANU press release, the driver of the vehicle abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot along the mud dam of the Hope Canal. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed several parcels of cannabis in two bags in the trunk.

    The motor vehicle along with the suspected cannabis was escorted to CANU headquarters where it tested positive for cannabis.

    15 parcels weighing 33.4 kilograms or approximately 73.6344 pounds of cannabis with a street value of approximately $10 million were found, CANU said.

    Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
